Old video flex cable illuminates screen; new ones do not.

I am replacing a video cable because of pixelation. I have now tried two replacement cables (one used and one new), and see nothing more than a dim display. Again, when I switch out the new cables for the original, it works fine --except for the pixelation. I'm working on a Toshiba Satellite P205. Ideas?

Pixelation? Are you sure this is a problem with the cable?
