I was just playing sibe B of an LD and all of the sudden the pictiure turns
into verticle bars and the player stops and displays "HI". I try playing the
disc again and it stops but this time it display "PO". I hear a clicking sound
now when I attempt to play an LD or a CD. It won't play anything anymore. I
hear it trying to but once the click sound comes it stops then shutts down. I
bought this player brand new back in 1998, never had any problems with it until
now. Thanks in advance.

If you are getting a clicking sound then the pickup lost the ability to
focus on the LD. The click is the laser lens moving up and hitting the LD
then dropping down and then raising up again. As it moves up and down it is
supposed to focus on the LD layer but is having problems. This is usually a
pickup failure but can be the electronics.

The clicking noise stopped. Everything else is working fine except when it
tries to play a disc it shutts off and displays "VU". It's identifying the cd
and ld discs just fine, but like I said it shutts off when trying to play them.
Is there someone you can recommend that would be able to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.
