Toshiba laptop restore to factory settings

I want to restore my toshiba laptop back to factory settings but it's still in recovery mode. I've tried pressing 0 and turning it on but it doesn't beep as everyone says it should.
Any help would be appreciated as I need it for university very quickly!

are you using the recovery disks? or the HDD recovery method, please describe

I've used that link and the problem is I can't even access my laptop troubleshoot because it's stuck on the recovery screen an won't let me go any further. It says my PC needs to be repaired and comes up with an error code!

maybe a bad harddrive....sounds like you need to take it to a repair man

do you happen to have the actual recovery CD media? if the restore option, which we were trying to acces on your harddrive, are corrupt then that may work if not it could mean bad harddrive. if the reocvery cd work then maybe it was corrupt. either way sounds like the HDD is acting funny.

I Don't have recovery media or a disk as it didn't come with one and the command prompt doesn't work as it goes straight back to the toshiba loading page and then goes straight back to telling me I need to repair it again. I'm hoping I don't need to send it off or pay any more money as I don't have the time and it's not even 12 months old and this Is the 3rd time something has gone wrong with it.

i mean i work on computers but for yours i would end up swapping out the harddrive and ordering the restoration cds from toshiba to see if that would work. if it is the harddrive going bad then that would fix it, if not then there is something else physically wrong with the notebook. it's unfortunate but it looks like you may have to try that option, i think it's the cheapest about 100 dollars total 70 for hdd and 30 for toshiba to send you replacement resotration cd's. or pay substantially more to have it repaired officially by toshiba, or roll the dice and try a mom and pop shop....

What do you mean swap the hard drive as I had to replace the disk drive a month ago because that stopped working and is there no other way of setting it back to factory settings?

the error you said you were getting made me think of a failing harddrive. i have spares so i would quickly swap the drive out and reinstall the operating system from the system restore cds

put it like this, only 2 ways to restore system. 1 is form the harddrive, one is from the CD. your harddrive wont do it so you need the CD's. get the cd's then try it form there. if that doesn't work then i would swap the harddrive and try it again with a new one. if that doesn't work then laptop needs to get sent in for repair i would think.

i mean i'ts spending maybe 100 bucks apposed to like 250 possibly, might be worth a shot. but i'd purchase the restoration cds from toshiba anyway and try that first
