Toshiba Satelite c55 laptop won't boot drive locked can't read media

no passwords set, bios cleared and reset... still getting...drive locked, can not read media... drive does not show up in bios (HDD). I do not have orig set up disks for OS... 8.1, or a rescue disk. Is there any hope beyond replace drive and reload an OS?

You can check whether the drive is marked as read only in diskpart. If it does, you can clear the read only attribute. Check this thread out and follow what johnbl suggested: http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/id-1852187/drive-windows-installed-locked.html

Hi I have a satellite C55-B series with windows 8.1 and cannot get past the bios password to even try and boot windows up. My question is that I was hoping you may know the location of the cmos/RTC battery on the motherboard? I am hoping to locate it and remove it to reset the bios so I can fix my laptop. Thank you for any help
