Turn multiple TVs on w/Tivo Remote

I have a DirecTV w/Tivo. I use it in different rooms (have a media
closet and IR blasters). My question is is there a way to program the
remote to issue more than one TV On/Off and volume commands? I doubt
it, but it would be nice as I have to deal with a separate remote just
to turn the TV on in some rooms.

That must be awful having to set down a 6oz. remote to pick up a different
6oz. remote. When is someone like Jerry Lewis going to recognize the plight
of such disadvantaged people and start another telethon to help all the lazy
self indulgent bastards out there.

You could stop using a remote altogether and get up off your ass and walk
across the room to adjust your TV's volume/channel/power for a month and
then tell us (or rather someone who cares) how you have to 'deal' with
multiple remotes.

Get extra TiVo remotes and leave them in each room programmed to that TV is
an option. I have my stack of 3 TiVos in one location distributed to 5
distant TVs. Using the remote they sell at http/store.tivo.com each one
of those remotes has a switch allowing it to flip back and forth between 2
different TiVos.

Get a programmable remote and don't use the tivo remote. I'vbe used a
couple of different one, but now use One For All 8010 I think it is. I
control my tivo, 2 tv's, 2 vcr's, and RCA DRS7000N with it. And I've got
TV power, input, volume and mute programmed for each device so I don't
have to change devices too often.

what youre looking for are macros.... no, the tivo remote wont do macros.
some of the other suggestions made might be helpful though.

No, what he is looking for is a remote that can handle multiple
devices, MACROS are not a requirement to solve the issue.

Multiple remotes can be a real pain. With DirecTV you really need at a minimum a
remote that will change channels AND adjust volume. The audio levels are all
over the place with all but local channels. Sometimes it's a difference from
channel to channel and often the commercials that DirecTV drops in are wildly
different from the audio level of the surrounding program material.

Actually multiple remotes can be a pain because you have to have some place
to put them all. Every room does not have a coffee table or remote basket.
As far as getting up and changing the channel and volume and so on... some
equipment doesn't have that capability without the remote.. so your comment
leaves out the possibility of many scenarios that exist.... and although
sarcastic in nature was not funny.

remotes. Guess I am of no help on this subject. DAve

Ok. I'll give a solution one friend of mine did. Rather odd friend. He
mounted to the ceiling a thin-bungee type cord and has it suspended over
his end table near the wall about 16 inches from the table. You can grab
remote - make your changes and let it go back to "home position"
suspended in the air. I said he was an odd friend. I don't suppose this
would work with 4 remotes unless you did what my other odd friend did.
Mount all four to the sides of a 4x4 (he used epoxy the first time only
to find replacing batteries was not easy, so he now uses velco on his
new remotes).

p.s. I am following this cause I'd like to solve the same problem. I
have 3 remotes, and they also move around and my wife can't figure out
which one to use when. sigh
