Hello, I'm looking for a new laptop for sony vegas 13.
I will be doing 1080p and 60fps videos.

Which of these 2 options is best for sony vegas 13?

Info of the laptops:

Option 1: ASUS X550VX - Windows 10 Home (64-bit)

* It has a Intel Core i7 (6. Gen) 6700HQ / 2.6 GHz-3.5 GHz (4 cores and 8 threads) - 6 MB Cache

* AMD Radeon R7 M445 - 4 GB GDDR5

* 256 GB solid state-disk

COST: $848 / €805 / £690

Hm, this is not easy. Normally I prefer AMD in similar scenarios, but the R7 M445 is only an entry level discrete GPU on par with GT920mx. The GTX950m is roughly three times faster in games and gpu dependent applications.

Therefore, I'd like to recommend a third option, just announced at CES. It's the Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming (7567) and for 799 USD it sports:
- A Kaby Lake 4-core i5 HQ cpu
- GTX1050 graphics, which is on par with former GTX960m and therefore a lot more powerful than even the linked Asus

Hi there MadChris!

In my opinion, the Inspiron 15 5000 is the better choice.

Because:
1. It has 7th gen intel processor. Latest gen CPUs are faster and more energy efficient than previous gen CPUs.
2.It has faster DDR4 frequency. Faster DDR frequency can improve performance (but its barely noticeable. because both laptop are DDR4 with same 8gigs of capacity).
3.It has 4GB of VRAM. Bigger VRAM means better performance and more room for frames to be rendered in GPU, but each GPU vendor architecture is different so it can't compared fairly in this scenario. Also look for shader performance to decide best GPU for you.
4. CHEAPER yes... its cheaper and better. IMO

Reason to consider ASUS:
1. It has NVIDIA GPU. Not being a fanboy here but NVIDIA has CUDA that can improve vegas in rendering time by using pararel computing system. It means it renders your video using GPU and CPU, not only CPU.

2. It has 4 cores and 8 thread CPU. Vegas can take advantage of more cores and threads.

Upgrade the RAM to 16GB to make vegas renders 1080p at smooth, buttery framerate. Although maybe 8gigs already sufficient for your needs.

Thanks. But the only problem is the dual-core... i'm just scared that the processing and rendering will be slow and annoying when i'm working but Sony Vegas supports OpenGL which AMD gpu uses.

A 7th gen i5 HQ is more powerful than 6th gen i7 U. But you will not get HT feature that available in i7.
and new NVIDIA "Pascal" architecture is a good way to go. Good performance and good power efficiency.

But if the third option isn't available, you can stick with the first or second option.
Or considering my recommendation that i gave to you.
