why does TV keep switching to cable from HDMI?

Our TV keeps showing 'please run auto channel scan' on power up and other times. After a few minutes of investigation, I discover the input has been changed to cable from HDMI. I reset it back to HDMI and all works fine, for a while. Then it happens again, the next day or so. Same thing, input back to cable. Another reset. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried a different HDMI cable? My guess is that the TV "thinks" there is no input on HDMI and the default input is tuner.

Try running the channel scan even if you don't have an antenna. Some TVs will keep going back the initial set up if you haven't completed it.
