Lately my Pioneer CLD-D704 has developed a loud squeal, and sometimes
very loud squeal. It could be a vibration, I am not sure.
It happens when I start to play a disc (any disc) right after it spins
up. It used to be far and few between, but in the last couple weeks
seems to be more and more, and now it is virtually every disc. After
the squeal starts it almost everytime, stops the disc and opens the
disc tray. The first time this happened was maybe a year ago.
I was having the slipping that the 704 is prone to after some years,
but I did clean the clamping ring as per Kurtis' instructions just
today, but that didn't make any difference on the noise.
BTW I bought this player brand new in 1996 and it has been used a
decent bit as I have over 125 laser laser disc's, all of which have
been played at least once and many 4-5 times.
If anyone has any ideas as to what this might be, I would be most
appreciative for any input either here or thru my e-mail address,
which does work thru here now, it is: nighthawk_68@hotmail.com (note
the underscore between nighthawk and the 68)
Thanks in advance,
Ed
