After effects file size way too high !

So recently i wanted to do some editing to a video i recorded with nvidia shadowplay or wahtever it's called now and even though i never worked in after effects before it came out pretty good but since it is only about 40s long when i rendered it i didn't expect it would be 20GB
So why could this be,as i said i am not experienced in this program and i'm pretty sure that 20GB for a 40s 1080p 60FPS video that was only around 200MB before i edited it is way too much
could it be that i choose something i shouldn't have when i rendered it
also the video format of the 20GB file is .avi if that means anything

I don't really know anything about After Effects so I can't provide much help, but judging by the file size and length of the video I suspect you chose to output an uncompressed video.
