This is NOT anonymous, it's some attention whoring script kiddies hiding behind the anonymous name.

Big mistake, the people in the past who have tried that have found themselves outed by the real face of Anonymous. We will find you, we do not forgive, we do not forget, and we do not tolerate the abuse of what we stand for.

Maybe so, but the public also needs to stop ignoring the crimes of those whom Anonymous is against, and anyone else that's still left. Of course, neither thing will happen en mass so it's a losing battle that both Anonymous and you are fighting on different sides of. The larger companies and governments have no right to force their greed on the world, yet they do it anyway. At least some of Anonymous is trying to stop it, albeit in a futile and overall nearly pointless way.

Just remember, Anonymous has messed with neo-nazi groups and other despicable people(s). I hate to say this, but every time they knockout the FBI's site for a while, I laugh a little. Does them taking down fbi.gov for a few hours at the most do anything at all besides say FU to the FBI? Not really, at least as far as I know. Is it funny to see a government site go down? H**l yes.

You can argue that they're terrorists and everything they do is wrong if you like, but all players in this game are wrong, and taking a side is pretty pointless at this point unless we make our own side.

For one this article isn't even real somebody made up this to make them look bad, they know they can't take down the entire internet, if so they would have done it already

They are hacking these places because these companies and groups in one way or another are helping the government take away our rights one by one. They are fighting for our freedom. wake up and see whats going on with our country. They just passed a martial law bill so they can declare it anytime they want.

Anonymous is the new tea party and the British are the bankers and the economic run US Government. They are spearheading all the crap that's going on with Egypt and Greece and working with all the corrupt rulers around the world. They want the world to fall apart so they can take it over in their new terrifying image.. The New World Order.

2012 will not happen. It's just another y2k. The real threat is the NWO. That is what the people of anonymous know and they are the ones who don't want this to happen so much that they are basically risking their lives to do something about this.

Think Ping Blocker on steriods even regular UDP packets may look like its going through but only one request per static IP sure you can attempt a proxy but the static ip can not be masked . You say they have overflow protection - over flow to where, the root DNS servers, this is where everyone falls back to connect people with the URL they want.
Masking real IP address is possible. cannot find the artical on Toms...
Caches only last so long most are refreshed very often - how long does it take for a DNS change to happen to you hosted Web site - 10mins? less?

Even if this is a partial success its a good thing to highlight and show what may happen if large powerful corporations get full control over 'our' internet.
Its not going to be long before personnel email will have to use 'darknets' just to get sent and received without been read and modified by some omnipresent big brother. they read and focus advertising on you now. imagine what will happen with one tiny change to the worlds political vista.

Regardless if this was announced by Anonymous or not, and even if Anonymous is considered an amateur terrorist group, this vapor-stunt got our attention and probably "terrorized" some IT Security folks out there. I'm not quite sure I'm following their point. March 31st is a Saturday. Wall Street and most banks are not even active at this time. I realize that there's probably more internet traffic on Saturdays but I think it would make more sense to strike when you intended targets are most active. Whatever "anon" made this claim should learn more about DNS. Since almost all popular sites would have their DNS entries cached by the local DNS server, this attack would have to persist for long enough for the cache to expire before a DNS server would re-qeury the root server.

I question your engineering credentials then.... Why wouldn't the local DNS server simply reply with the cached information up until the TTL expires for the domain? Who would anyone broadcast their attack vector ahead of time? There might be some people who claim to be part of anon that have some skills, but the vast majority are wanna-be script kiddies.

Because Google is full of people that actually create code. These jackwads just use old, known exploits that someone else found. Google is full of people that could be true hackers if they chose to.
