Im trying to format and install windows to a Dell inspiron laptop. When booting from CD/flashdrive(bootable) after loading the windows files, a dos screen appears and nothing more. if i close it the computer restarts. In the dos screen, it shows windows version and the path
"X:\windows\system32\", and at that time the keyboard is not working properly.
egs: 'm' is enter. But when booting ubuntu its fine, both from CD and flashdrive, but i need to install windows. I tried with windows 7, 8.1 and 10. Please help me, its urgent.

Yes both DVD and flashdrive are bootable and it works on other computers. It boots and loads the windows but not showing the setup options, instead a dos screen appears as I said.

Hey dude, this happened to me before.. I'm guessing u created the Boot media with the "Windows USB/DVD Tool"..

Pls use the WinsetupfromUSB tool.. with the following options..

I have tried it many times, especially useful for Win setup on older PCs.. :))

Anurag20: When it boots up i cant select the windows boot from flashdrive option as the keyboard is not working. Only the keys 'J', 'M' and 'Enter' is working. All of the keys are working as Enter key.
