Hey everyone I have the Canon T5i and at its highest video recording setting it records .MOV file format and plays back at an average rate of 47,000kbps.

Now after editing video footage in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 I want to export at as h.264 as an .MP4 file format, but I'm wondering what bit rate to use since I want to retain as much quality as possible. Any thoughts? I'm not sure which bitrate to use since the file type is being changed.

Solution
Personally, I use a 2 pass VBR for most of the files I export as mp4. I create, and save, a custom setting so I will be able to use it again and again. I have a T4i and have used the custom settings for exporting clips to the mp4 format.

From the second link above and the explanation by Walter S. which one you should use will depend on the length of the clip. CBR would be fine for short clips but 2 pass VBR would be better for longer clips. I hope this helps.
