Do a factory reset after the screen has gone blank

My screen goes
Blank after a second. Still have sound. Green power light is on tried to do a reset but the screen blacks out before I even start

if it a laptop try using the funtion key and turn on ext video port see if the laptop has video out that port. if it a desktop see if the mb has fallen over to the onboard video port.

A factory reset likey won't help this as it is more than likely a hardware issue. What is the brand/model of whatever device this is? Need a bit more details.
