Does my new smart tv require HDMI? I have digital cable service.

I know nothing about televisions really, but need to get a new smart TV for the hubby-unit. Will I need an HDMI cable if we have digital cable service? Do those two things have anything to do with each other? I just want him to be able to plug it in and go...so he'll need whatever accessories are required for the new smart TV.

Do you have existing digital cable services? Usually now you get a little box for each TV, and that does include an HDMI cable. You probably already have one!

If you have regular cable, and you use a coaxial going directly into the TV to get your service, you will likely need to call your cable company to switch over to digital service.

We have DirectTV and a recording box sohe can record his shows and watch them when he can't sleep. Is that digital cable? I know I could ask the cable company or vendor but I don't want to just be sold a line - or things I don't need.

I would bet the farm that the Direct TV box hooks up to your existing TV using an HDMI. You're good to go, no wires needed.

Just throw in another cable. There is never enough toys or cables less than usd$10 and let him deal with it. Simple.
