I just starting using LastPass as a browser extension on Firefox. One of its features is that when I login to a website, LastPass prompts me if I want to save the site and the login credentials. If I click OK, boom its done. I don't have to re-type the login credentials which tell me LastPass is reading my keystrokes? How is LastPass getting my login credentials when I type it into the website? Is it keylogging? I would think browser security would forbid this type of behavior?

You gave it permission by installing it. Though more likely it's simply copy/pasting from the user/password field as opposed to recording keystrokes.
