I recently cracked my lcd screen and brought it in for repair at a third party retailer, after I recieved it back it was working and I was able to make and recieve calls but the screen would go black everytime I ended a call. I brought it back and was told it would be corrected, but when I picked up the phone and tried to put a sim card back in, it would not recognize it? I called rogers and they said the sim card was fine and it must be an internal problem, so I brought the phone back to the store "third time"and now they're telling me someone must of messed with the software because the IMEI is now null? I did not change anything at all I just inserted the sim card, but they insist it was not them. Anyhow my question is, can I repair this issue myself?

I did a factory reset but the IMEI still is not showing. I do have the box with my IMEI number, is there some how I can get it back registered on my phone? because the phone can't read my sim card with out it. And I did check the phone it is not black listed. Can I somehow put the IMEI back in the phone since I have it? I also read on similar post that sometime more shady third party retailers may actually swipe the motherboard or switch it with an inferior one, is this possible? they were pretty upset that there were so many problems with it after the third time bringing it back, and they are as I found out the hard way very unprofessional.

Try this --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9POQK3kf6U
The code for "Engineer Mode" didn't work for my phone but it's worth a shot.

Also try having a look at this --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZqDmfy9VZQ&src_vid=oFWUOGdEuso&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_348501013

Good luck
