I'm looking for a laptop for my dad
Its main purpose will be for office use: MS Office, Running Java apps, Needs to have a reasonably good network card to sync with the company wireless/ wired network.

Dad uses two to three portable hardrives so it needs to have a fair amount of usb ports.
Preferably USB 3.0

Also the Main factor is that it needs to be slim and lightweight, so you could say i'm looking for an ultrabook.
You wouldn't be wrong but ultrabooks are known to have fewer usb ports.
But even a normal laptop which is very lightweight and slim could be an option.

A good proccesor is a must as in the spare My dad might do some Photoshop .....

But its main use is clear:

  • ■ it is for office use
    ■ Needs to run java apps even few demanding ones
    ■ Needs to have a reasonable amount of storage
    ■ Usb ports atleast more than 3-4 , prefer USB 3.0.
    ■ Good processor.
    ■ Slim, Lightweight, portable
    ■ good network card

Prefered Brands would be lenovo, toshiba, dell, other options are welcome as long as they are feasable with the budget of 815$

Please do help me out, thanks !!
Mike

Here are some great choices -

http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-15-6-Inch-Laptop-i5548-833SLV/dp/B00RH6A0Q4/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1427915885&sr=1-1&keywords=laptop - $631.20

And really, anything in these search results would work for your Dad - (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_72_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A541966%2Cn%3A565108%2Ck%3Alaptop%2Cp_36%3A60000-80000%2Cp_72%3A1248879011&keywords=laptop&ie=UTF8&qid=1427915876&rnid=1248877011)

I've filtered it by price and rating. Most of these laptops have atleast an i5 so the differences are in price and aesthetics (weight, thickness, touch-screen, etc)
