Macbook Pro connected via direct HDMI port but hdtv says it cannot detect a signal ?

Hi all,
just got a direct hdmi cable (no need to use dvi cable) to connect my mac to the tv, but even though i have plugged in the hdmi cable to both my mac and tv, and my mac did that weird 'black out for a moment' thing when you connect things to thunderbolt / lightning port on macs, the tv still cannot detect any signal. my tv is a LG HDTV and my macbook is a 13 inch macbook pro. pls help :-( thanks x

I think your macbook display has greater resolution than your TV so you will have to set the video resolution on the secondary screen to the native resolution of your TV (probably 1920x1080).
