I have a BenQ monitor (internal speakers), it is plugged into my computer with a VGA cable and there is no sound. When I plug in the HDMI cable, the screen goes completely blank and the monitor says No Cable Connected. If I plug in the VGA with the HDMI, the screen goes straight to desktop and does not allow me to open any internet windows (I use Chrome). Please help me get sound from my monitor. Thank you.

VGA is video only so you will need to use the lime green audio output from your PC with a cable with stereo mini plugs at both ends to get the audio to the monitor speakrs.
HDMI is video and audio so that should work. Did you disconnect the VGA when you plugged in and selected the HDMI? Try a different HDMI source to see if the problem is in the monitor or the PC settings or output. If you get a picture with the HDMI you will still need to check that the audio is routed over HDMI in the video or audio control panel.
