Practical Limit on Extending HDMI Cable

I currently use a 50' plenum HDMI cable to connect from laptop to overhead video projector to run PowerPoint with embedded videos. This works fine with no booster. I now need to add 25' feet to this arrangement as we are moving further away from the projector. Do I need a booster of some type or just hook it up with a coupler and go? Thanks.

Yes sir, 50` is theoretical limit.

However you can use cat6 cable and buy a balun.

You could try a coupler and additional cable but I think an HDMI booster might be required. One with its own power supply might work better than the ones powered off the 5v on the HDMI cable itself.

So at the ceiling where the projector hangs, the Cat 6 would go into the receiver thence short HDMI to projector. On the other end, cat 6 to sender to HDMI to laptop? And, is the typical 100' of Cat 6 made up with ends that are compatible with the sender and receiver? Or, are there different configurations? So many questions...... Many thanks, Frank
