Recently I bought my Lenovo y700 15 inch gaming laptop (Nvidia GTX 960m).

I've been noticing random freezes for a split second every now and then while gaming (in couple of games). This occurs even in a low demanding game like Feeding Frenzy 2.

I installed afterburner to check up on temp and fps while gaming. When i started Warhammer Vermintide (on max settings) it showed me 40 c on gpu1. After five minutes it scaled to 90 c while running on +70 fps and having a coolermaster pad underneath.

My question is: do I have an overheating problem? It doesn't explain the random freezes while playing extremely low demanding game like "feeding frenzy 2".

Hi,

90c is too high that can result in a automatic shut down or lags in a game. Do a clean install of the graphics card driver that may help.
- First, if you OC your GPU disable it first for troubleshooting purposes.
- Next is to do a clean install of the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia driver.
- Check Programs and Features as well and uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver from the manufacturers site.
- Here's the link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
- Reboot your laptop once the latest drier has been installed.
- After the reboot set Nvidia as the default GPU.
