Solder power cord to HP mini stream?

I have this hp stream mini 200-009 i would like to solder on the cord to since the power jack is damaged. I have tried once and it would not turn on. Here are some pics.

Damaged in what way? Usually the damage is just the jack coming out of the board itself, in which case you can easily just re-solder it in place (very easy if you've done PCB soldering before

Depends on the extent of the damage , sometimes they aren't fixable.

The inside of the jack is damaged. The plastic centre. There are 3 pins showing.

I have a HP mini stream mini desktop with a damaged power jack. Is it possible to solder the power cord to the mother board? I did not see any jacks available to purchase .

Hi, yes you can solder the wires from the adapter directly to the motherboard. But it will be easier to just change the jack itself. What are the model numbers of your HP?

I soldered on a cord and still no power. I think it is totally dead. Oh well.

I could not find any information about your motherboard, if you have three pins at the jack, did you solder three wires also?

I left part of the metal prong from the jack on there. I just soldered 2 wires from a power supply on there. I will de solder and show a pic.

Sometimes they are just dead , I have to hp's in my basement from my niece , neither will run even after touching up the port.

I will find mine. What should i test? Never really used it much.

Can you give me a picture like the third one on the opposite side, the side with the DC+IN written. You remove the rest of the DC jack, that is good for connecting the wires. Measure the voltage from the adapter not soldered to the motherboard, you put the multimeter on a scale of 20 volts DC, if you don't have this scale put to an higher scale. Measure the voltage for the adapter connected to an outlet (110V), you put the red probe to the center wire and the black to the other wire, you should read around +19.5 volts DC. (Sorry if this to much informations, I don't know your skill level).

Shows power going to the MB. Does not turn on with the on button. No hdd is hooked up, don't think that matters.

Quick solder. MB gets power, will not turn on with on button.

If i wire it the other way, would it fry it or anything? I have the positive to where there was a + but what if that is wrong? What would happen if i solder it the other way? Seems i got ripped off on kijiji and this is fried anyways. Nothing to lose at this point.

What voltage do you have between the center wire and the other one? Don't change anything.

Can you give me the first numbers/letters for the chip underneath the black wire in your first picture, the last numbers are 491E.
