MIDI Problems, sound latency and how can I fix it? help needed

So, I'm thinking of buying an external sound card for several reasons but on the most important is that whenever I connect my keyboard to the pc there is a delay between me pressing the key and the sound being played and I wanted to fix this

I've messed around with the FL Studio setting a while ago but I didn't manage to make it "playable" for me

I've also heard that it could be due to my specs but honestly I don't see why my specs are causing the delay

My specs:

Intel Core i7-2630QM @2GHz

8 gb of ram

750 gb of hard drive space (with an extra 1tb of external storage)

I really want to start recording stuff with my keyboard

Note: There is no delay when the keyboard is plugged to my sister's macbook or iMac
