vga to s-video conversion

I have a document camera with a VGA out. I need to convert that VGA out to s-video, which is the available port I have on my projector. I purchased a vga to s-video connector cord.
However, after plugging in everything and turning on the document camera the projector is not picking up a signal.
Could I possibly need another piece of hardware, or do I need to try a different s-video cord?

The cable you bought is for PC applications to reduce the number of connectors and will only work with the appropriate video settings.
