Asus G75VX Random Shutdown

Asus G75VX powers off at random times through out the week. Also, the computer will not boot unless it is attached to an external monitor. Once it has booted, I can disconnect the external monitor and the internal display now works.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi,

It maybe related to the graphics card of your laptop which causes this issues.
- Do a clean install of the Nvidia graphics driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver.
- Next is to check Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
- Reboot your laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
- After the reboot do observe your laptop again and see if the same problem will persist or not.
- Do also make sure that the latest BIOS Version is installed.

Sorry for the extremely late response.
Asus has a BIOS update from 2013. Downloaded that to a USB and went to "flash" under BIOS and now it works. Takes longer than it should because I must select the screen option, but hey, my laptop is completely portable again!
